Jai’s Journey as a Supportive Partner to His Wife With CIDP

Headshot of Jai.

When Jai married Crystal 26 years ago, CIDP (chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy) wasn’t part of the plan. Although his wife’s diagnosis put “in sickness and in health” to the test, CIDP has now brought them even closer together.

What does it mean to care for someone living with CIDP? For some, it may come as a natural extension of being a supportive family member. For others, it could be a challenge that impacts nearly every aspect of their lives. For Jai, whose wife, Crystal, was diagnosed with CIDP more than 10 years ago, it means “supporting your partner in every way—physically, emotionally, mentally.”

Even through the challenges, Jai and Crystal try to find the right balance in their relationship by maintaining a sense of fun, communicating their needs with love, and thriving in spite of her CIDP.
